Haile Selassie was the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. He was a prominent figure in the Pan-African movement and played a key role in the formation of the Organization of African Unity. He was known for his efforts to modernize Ethiopia and for his advocacy for African unity and independence. He was also a symbol of resistance against Italian occupation during World War II. After being deposed in a coup in 1974, he lived in exile until his death in 1975. He is also revered as a religious figure in the Rastafarian movement, where he is seen as the incarnation of God.
