Pepin the Short
Pepin the Short was the King of the Franks from 751 until his death in 768. He was the first of the Carolingians to become king and was the father of
Charlemagne. Pepin is known for his successful military campaigns and for strengthening the Frankish kingdom. He also had a close relationship with the papacy and was an important figure in the establishment of the Papal States.
